I’m back :)

I’ve been kinda silent for a while. Some of you may know already but in October I was struck down with a bad case of tonsillitis (really made my birthday suck!) and was basically out of action for a week +. When I got better it came back! 😦
While I was sick I tried to make things but only really ended up concentrating on Β a Black Mage costume for the Distant Worlds show in London on the 2nd November. I was still putting the finishing touches on the morning of the show! And I didn’t get to add all the extra bits I wanted to. My sister says she will get me some good cosplay pics, I’ll share those here as well as the other thing I managed to do (which is secret for now!)

Other than that, I haven’t been able to really do much, apart from help with the things going on at Sprite Stitch – challenges, mini-swap and the site’s 5th birthday celebrations! Oh and a bit of Skyrim for its 1st birthday πŸ˜€

So, I’m pretty much back up and running, and feeling the need to make things. Things need making! I have birthday presents, must finish that leaf thing for my mother (tonsillitis got in the way of that!) and I have a ton of ideas for my Etsy and for Christmas.

I missed last month’s IHSW so I’m making sure I do this month’s! My plan is to post on Friday with some of the things I want to do over the weekend, and post again on Monday/Tuesday with how far I got. That’s the plan, anyway – we’ll see how that goes!

Anyway, it’s good to be back around and I’ll be checking out everyone’s blogs soon to see what I’ve been missing! πŸ˜€

Wow, can’t believe it’s been a month since the last one! Time sure has been moving swiftly these past few weeks.
Well…I was all set for May’s IHSW, had all my stuff lined up…but I’ve been unwell over the weekend with a sudden and mysterious cold! So, I actually did more coughing than stitching…!

But I did get some stitching in and here is the proof. I mean the pictures! πŸ˜›

Firstly, I did some work to the Elder Scrolls thing I was working on a while ago (but put it away due to working on other things – not sure if I ever posted pictures of it though).

It’s from the Shivering Isles box and when complete it will say “there is no genius without a touch of madness”. It is a version of an ancient quote from Seneca the Younger, Β a Roman philosopher (among Β other things). I really like the quote, and I feel like it kinda suits me! πŸ˜€
Anyway, I just completed the “without” (think it was mostly the “out” part!), and next will be the “a” – should be simple enough!

Next, Β I dug out my old Phantasy Star II title screen thing. It’s the one project of mine that really haunts me, so I did a little work in DMC 823:

There’s quite a lot of this colour dotted all over the picture, so I really need to do this when it’s daytime (and preferably bright!) to get it completed.
Also, since I started this piece so long ago, I can see how my stitching has improved over the years. It’s really interesting to look at!

Last of all, a quick non-game piece I whipped up for a friend’s birthday:

He’s a child of the 70s, and seems to have this thing for orange VW campers. I was googling stuff and came across the pattern atΒ http://hancockshouseofhappy.blogspot.co.uk/Β . They have some really nice free patterns that are super quick to stitch!
The VW will be going in either a flexi-hoop or a circular frame (haven’t decided yet!). Hope my friend likes it!

So, apart from a little bit of work on my secret swap gifts, that’s all I really managed to do. Hopefully next month I won’t be so full of cold, so I should be able to more! πŸ˜€

Fighters Guild Pt.2

Just a quick update with some better pictures of the Fighters Guild stitching πŸ™‚ Enjoy!!

Fighters Guild finished!

Yes! I finally finished the Fighters Guild crest. Took a while, I know, but I’m really pleased with it πŸ™‚

Here is the stitching before washing/stretching/ironing.

And here it is, mounted and ready to hang! (really bad picture, sorry!)

It’s hard to tell from this picture (for which I totally blame energy-saving bulbs – they’re just not right) but the stitching is mounted on dark red crushed velvet, with a dark red and gold twisted cord and matching tassel. All I really need to do is find a decent pole/stick/thing to slot into the top to hang it properly…that weird stick that’s in the picture just isn’t up to the job, lol πŸ™‚

I will update with a better picture as soon as I can, as I really think this picture doesn’t do it any justice whatsoever!! ^^

Post-Christmas Post

Greetings of the season to you all – hope you all enjoyed yourselves πŸ˜‰

I haven’t been stitching for a couple of days, partly because of the Christmas chaos but also because I’ve seen a return of my dermatitis – and it’s feeling particularly vengeful. I did manage to make a couple of small decorations last week.

The top one is a Christmas themed Portal image – the pattern was created by comatosegrl and posted in the Sprite Stitch forums, all credit and many thanks to her πŸ™‚ The second one is a Mario star, with a sparkly backstitch border (go DMC Light Effects!!). Both stitchings were stuck to felt and a ribbon was added, so they could hang on my tree. I would have made more but I just couldn’t find the time – guess there’s always next year πŸ˜€

I’ve also done some more to the Fighters Guild.

I would have liked it finished in time for Christmas, but what with my course and everything else I couldn’t manage it. I will be working on it some more this week so we’ll see how far I get (and it’ll be more of a challenge since I will be wearing cotton gloves while doing it, lol).

Update soon!

Fighters Guild WIP update

I have been working on the Fighters Guild crest a fair bit in recent weeks (in between my coursework and FFXIV). So, here’s how it’s looking right now:

I’m pretty happy with how it’s looking so far, but I’m looking forward to it being finished πŸ˜€

Instead of framing this one, I’ll be making it into a wall hanging. I can’t say too much right now incase my sis reads this – although she sees the WIP pics and she has seen the material I have ready for the hanging, she doesn’t know exactly what I have planned πŸ˜€ Β Of course, once she does, I will post pictures of it here!!

The unreliable poster strikes again (aka catching up pt2)

I realise this isn’t the tomorrow I was on about in my last post, but what can I say? I’m lazy lol. I’ve not really been doing much last few days except for sitting in front of the tv too much… But, as I promised, here’s some pics of my recent WIP’s. First up – the Fighters’ Guild crest from Oblivion.

My sister requested this one as she’s kinda into Oblivion right now. It’s been sidelined a fair bit what with all the swaps etc I’ve been doing, but I’m back into it and it’s not too big so it should be finished fairly soon.

Next – Alisia Dragoon.

I started this one when my old PC died and I was left for a while with only printed out patterns. Alisia Dragoon was the first console game me and my bro bought with our own money – sadly the cartridge stopped working about a year later, but I still have it for sentimental value πŸ˜€ I think that’s partly why I chose to do this one and not one of my other printed patterns (which I must get around to doing, lol).

I’ve also been crocheting and doing blackwork (as birthday presents for my family) and I shall be bribing asking my sis to go on a mission to get pics at the weekend πŸ™‚
