Streets of Rage Portraits and FFVI Seraphim

Remember that Adam I had a WIP of in my last post (which was quite a while ago, I know) ? Well I went and finished it, as well as the two other characters, Axel and Blaze!

Streets of Rage Portraits

They’re not exactly finished, because they need a wash and a press before I figure out what to do with them. I may get one of those multi-photo frames for them, since it would be a shame to split them up!

I also completed this recently:

FFVI Seraphim

It’s Seraphim (or sometimes Sraphim) from Final Fantasy VI. I had a lot of difficulty getting the colours to look ok, but it turned out nice enough.

In other news: I signed up for KingCon 2015! So a huge chunk of my makes this year will be going there, and hopefully I will have a lot of wares!

Currently working on: Rapidash – will post progress soon.

New year, new projects

Has it really been so long since I posted? I guess I got distracted…again! No matter, here I am back once more and with some stitchings too!

IMG_20150113_180015Here we have a Golden Axe dragon statue, Aarbon from Shadow of the Beast (the purple dude), a lovely fairy from Link to the Past, Shiva from Final Fantasy VI and a grumpy-looking Boo. They’re all on plastic and I haven’t cut them out yet, because I have been busy with my WIPs.

IMG_20150113_180100This will be Adam from Streets of Rage when it’s done. Right now it’s just the black. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know it’s not a new project, but I’ve also been working on my Arena stitching:

IMG_20150113_181653It’s really starting to look like something now, instead of just a weird brown blob!

And finally, KingCon 2015 was announced! I really want to get a table again but the price has gone up dramatically. I think it’ll probably be worth it though. Watch this space!

KingCon 2014

KingCon, Durham City’s first geek convention, was on October 12th. I was super nervous but it turned out to be for no reason, as I had a great time and I did quite well! The thing I worried about most was not having enough stuff, but in the end I didn’t need to worry.
Here’s my stuff, all laid out on my bed the night before the con:

Someย new stuff and a few older pieces too.ย Plenty of variety! Here’s my table at Durham’s Gala Theatre:

I ended up being so busy I couldn’t take any more pictures, but by the end of the day my table was looking very bare! My ever-popular mushroom magnets did well, as did the Pokeball badges. I said goodbye to the Phoenix, Snorlax/Tails and Alisia Dragoon, as well as the majority of the small stitchings. I also sold some of my handmade jewellery too!
There were two things that happened that were really awesome. First, I ran out of business cards, which I can only assume is good. Hope some custom work comes my way from that! The other thing is that when people approached my table and saw that the items were actually stitched, they would smile and say things like “that’s so cool” and “awesome”. I always worry that people won’t like what I stitch but I’m glad I made what I did as they were quite popular!

Anyway, that was KingCon, my first foray into the world of conventions. I’m really looking forward to doing another one, but first I have a load of jewellery to make for a couple of fairs I’m doing with my friend Lynn. Will be posting about my jewellery soon, as well as my finished Nei!

FFV Phoenix

I didn’t get around to making my IHSW report, but I kept working on Phoenix and it’s now finished! Here it is, before washing.

FFV Phoenix

I will upload better pictures of this and the other FFV sprites when they are washed, ironed and framed. It won’t be too long, because they are coming with me on Oct 12th to Durham’s first ever geek/nerd/comic convention, KingCon! I’ve been working on stuff for it for a while and hope to post about it very soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Calofisteri finished

Never has a sprite given me so much trouble during stitching! But no matter, because it is done! ๐Ÿ˜€

FFV Calofisteri Finished

I love how she turned out. The photo doesn’t even show how nice the blues are, or the pale yellow colour of the aida. The only thing that I’m not entirely happy with is the orange colour, but the more I look at it the more I like it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Next FFV sprite will be Phoenix, which I will start as soon as I’m done with the LttP hearts I’m working on! Hopefully I’ll be able to get a lot done this weekend, as it is September’s IHSW!

FFV Sprites

I love the sprites for FFV so recently I decided to stitch up a few of my favourites. I chose to stitch Shiva first, because I absolutely adore her in all the forms she’s taken throughout the years.

FFV Shiva

She still needs washing etc but I think she turned out quite nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

For my second FFV sprite I’ve chosen Calofisteri, otherwise known as WoodSprite. This one is only in the early stagesย but is going well so far!

FFV Calofisteri

I will update with progress on this piece very soon. I’ve been making a load of other things as well and my next post will be featuring some of those!

Sprite Stitch Challenges

I know, I’m terrible at blogging. I’ve gotten rather lazy about it (like many things) and if I wasn’t putting it off I was forgetting it. But here I am now with a small roundup of some of the things I’ve finished in the past few months.

I’m going to start with my Skyrim quilt square. I meant to post some progress on this for the IHSW recently but…eh. Anyway, I have since finished and sent it! So, here’s a picture. ๐Ÿ™‚

Shrine of Azura ~Skyrim~

It was the only square I could manage this year unfortunately (due to my illness among other things), but I made several patterns for other people to use.

Now, a collection of my recent Sprite Stitch challenge entries.

March – Minimalism

Ecco the Dolphin Minimalist

Super Metroid Minimalist

These are Ecco and Super Metroid. I went super minimalist with my two small entries. I really wanted to show how minimalist you could go – the Ecco one is the best example of that!

April – Sampler Stitch-A-Long

Sprite Stitch Band Sampler

Sampler Shot 2

We had so much fun with this. We all designed bands, which were voted on – the top ten were put into my Hat and three were selected with Random magic. The last band was our own choice out of all the ones entered. I think we actually ended up with over 100 designs!
The final bands were: Super Mario Kart, DDR and Journey. We stitched one per week, and used any extra time to add borders and things. In the last week I chose a Mystic Quest band designed by merrywether, finished up my border and stitched personal things in between the bands. They sort of ended up as bands themselves! One of my favourite projects to do and it turned out nicely. ๐Ÿ™‚

May – Black Mage Holiday

BMH on holiday

I left the challenge for May in the capable hands of my good friend starrley while I had a holiday, and the challenge was all about that. Where would a Black Mage go on holiday? What would s/he do? There were some awesome entries and I loved all of them. I wasn’t planning to enter but at the end of the challenge I got dressed up in my Black Mage outfit (that I made for the FF concert back in November) and snoozed under my Hat. So, this is me on holiday!

June/July – Colouring Book

Akatosh Sequin Art

The main reason I took a “holiday” was to set up this challenge. It wasn’t easy to get together a bunch of images and make them into outlines but I think I did alright. There were images from Zelda, Pokemon, Portal and more. I really wanted to do something different so I used the Akatosh symbol from Elder Scrolls and went mad with sequins. The result is what you see above. Over 2000 gloriously dazzling laser hologram sequins! Very fun to do, if somewhat fiddly when it comes to sewing them on, but I’d love to do more!

And that’s it so far. The current challenge for August is all about bling, so if I have time I may whip something up. I have plenty of UFOs to pick up too! I also have to prepare for next month, when it’s time again for the Mini Swap! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for reading (if you made it this far) and hopefully it won’t be too long until my next post! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oops! :)

This is totally the tomorrow I meant. ๐Ÿ˜€
I’m really sorry! I’ll be honest, I haven’t much felt like posting, or doing a lot of anything recently. But I did promise a report on February’s IHSW, so let me start with that!

I spent most of the IHSW weekend working on my second entry for the Portrait challenge over at Sprite Stitch. I kind of neglected to take photos at the right times over the IHSW to show my progress…but I’m happy to say the portrait is now finished so let me show you that instead! ๐Ÿ˜€

Valena ~Skyrim~

This is my Skyrim character, Valena. Or as I’m now calling her, Creepyface. Her face has been watching me for several days as she’s been coming together and has given me a few scares in the night!
Ahem…anyway, she’s 14,411 (I think) stitches and 38 colours. She’s in an 8×10″ frame which I have painted black with red trim, for those of you that are in the know regarding Elder Scrolls it was meant to look sort of Daedric-y ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m very pleased it’s finally finished though. I wanted to do something unusual for the challenge.

I also worked on something else unusual. My brother got an idea in his head to customise a mouse for a friend and wanted me to stitch the top piece. He did a design and I gave him plastic canvas, which he cut to shape. So I stitched the design for him, here it is:

LOZ Mouse

It says “Loz”, which is some kind of nickname and absolutely NOT Legend of Zelda, or lozenge, or anything else I tried to think of to get on my brother’s nerves. ๐Ÿ˜€
The blue star-like thing will have a blue LED under it and the small blue parts (mouse buttons) will have white LEDs. The mouse itself is a Razer DeathAdder that had somehow lost its top. It’s still being constructed very carefully, but my bro says I can take pictures when it’s all finished!

So that was pretty much what I did for the IHSW. Since then I’ve been able to make some progress on Rika and also finish up some secret gifts. I’ll show the gifts as soon as they are received, so for now here’s Rika.

Rika WIP 7

I’ve finished up on the black and started on some grey. More on this project soon.

Oh! Just realised there’s a couple of projects I haven’t posted about here yet! One is my first entry for the portrait challenge (can’t believe I forgot about that one!)

Black Mage Portrait

It’s a portrait of Black Mage…from the front. Bit of a cheeky entry! I hoped to make people laugh at it. It made me chuckle when I was stitching it!

Next, something my baba Ivy asked me for. She saw a picture of the Ice Climbers while I was browsing through my images looking for something to stitch and asked me to make it “into a tiny cushion”. So I did!

Ice Climbers

While she saw me stitching most of it, I finished it in secret and gave it to her for Christmas!

I have some other ideas cooking up at the minute, when I get some more time and more energy I’ll plan ’em all out and try to get started. Should be quite interesting. ๐Ÿ˜€

Craft Fair

I meant to do this post on Sunday, but uh…I went home. To Skyrim. Had a day’s rest from crafting!
As I’ve previously posted, I’ve been making things for a local craft fair, which was held on Saturday. It was my first event and it went a lot better than expected! I actually sold a few small items and several people took my card, which was great. ๐Ÿ˜€
I think the thing I liked most was how many people were interested in my crafts and how I like to use things from video games.

Here’s a picture of my table.

I had some more stuff behind! Some of you might recognise a few of the items up there, but there was a lot of stuff I made especially. And here they are (lots of pics!):

There was also a Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat (Mega Drive/Genesis version) that I don’t seem to have a picture of yet. I will get one!
And I forgot to get a picture of the yellow Pikachu scented sachet, but that one sold! I shall have to make another one ๐Ÿ˜€

So, that was my craft fair. I’m doing another one at the end of October, so I hope to be better prepared for that one. Any tips for that sort of thing will be greatly appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜€

Now I’m back to working on my second piece for the Sprite Stitch quilt, and also another secret project. Coming up will be a bunch of birthday presents too…!

And finally, I want to add a quick apology to everyone in the July IHSW – I didn’t get around to looking at all your blogs! I’m so sorry! I was just so busy, I did nothing but stitch for what felt like forever. The August IHSW is this coming weekend, so I will definitely try to catch up with you all! โค

IHSW April :)

This was the first time I’d participated in the International Hermit and Stitch weekend, which is organised by the lovely Joyce of Random Ramblings. Basically, for one weekend a month, participants can stitch as much (or as little!) as they like! Then they blog about it the following Monday – hence this post!
I used the IHSW as motivation to finish a couple of things I had lying around, do some work on my gift for the current Sprite Stitch swap and I also dug out an old WIP to work on, too. Here’s what I’ve been doing!

Tyris Flare from Golden Axe, on 14ct plastic canvas. She’s now taped to my wall next to Axel, until I get around to doing that thing I was gonna do to them! ๐Ÿ˜€

A bookmark, inspired by the beautiful indie game Journey. The character you play as in that has a wondeful scarf, that grows as you pick up symbols. It’s also an indicator of a sort of energy (used for jumping/flying/etc I believe). As the energy is used, the scarf loses its patterns – and I’ve tried to show that in my stitching! Took ages to get the pattern just right, had to draw it out in PCStitch by hand. (Getting better at that, though!)
Stitched on a 14ct burgundy Aida band.

This is the WIP I dug out of my basket. I started this last year (at the same time I was working on the Shiva square) and never got around to doing anymore to it. It’s the Dissidia 012 portrait of FFXI’s Prishe. I like the artwork from Dissidia and wanted to try one of the character portraits. I think I’m going to leave this where I can see it and do some more work on it later.

I also did a lot to my swap gift, but as usual I can’t show that until my partner receives it. It’s going to be great! I hope. ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, I really enjoyed the IHSW, and will definitely be participating in the next one! ๐Ÿ˜€
