IHSW May

Wow, can’t believe it’s been a month since the last one! Time sure has been moving swiftly these past few weeks.
Well…I was all set for May’s IHSW, had all my stuff lined up…but I’ve been unwell over the weekend with a sudden and mysterious cold! So, I actually did more coughing than stitching…!

But I did get some stitching in and here is the proof. I mean the pictures! 😛

Firstly, I did some work to the Elder Scrolls thing I was working on a while ago (but put it away due to working on other things – not sure if I ever posted pictures of it though).

It’s from the Shivering Isles box and when complete it will say “there is no genius without a touch of madness”. It is a version of an ancient quote from Seneca the Younger,  a Roman philosopher (among  other things). I really like the quote, and I feel like it kinda suits me! 😀
Anyway, I just completed the “without” (think it was mostly the “out” part!), and next will be the “a” – should be simple enough!

Next,  I dug out my old Phantasy Star II title screen thing. It’s the one project of mine that really haunts me, so I did a little work in DMC 823:

There’s quite a lot of this colour dotted all over the picture, so I really need to do this when it’s daytime (and preferably bright!) to get it completed.
Also, since I started this piece so long ago, I can see how my stitching has improved over the years. It’s really interesting to look at!

Last of all, a quick non-game piece I whipped up for a friend’s birthday:

He’s a child of the 70s, and seems to have this thing for orange VW campers. I was googling stuff and came across the pattern at http://hancockshouseofhappy.blogspot.co.uk/ . They have some really nice free patterns that are super quick to stitch!
The VW will be going in either a flexi-hoop or a circular frame (haven’t decided yet!). Hope my friend likes it!

So, apart from a little bit of work on my secret swap gifts, that’s all I really managed to do. Hopefully next month I won’t be so full of cold, so I should be able to more! 😀

My comment somehow disappeared, so trying again:

Love the elder scroll, and I’m impressed by the amount of stitching you completed, especially the 823 on navy, despite being sick. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. I love your stuff! I’m so gonna do the Journey bookmark, and the orange VW was so cute I checked out Hancock Happy and now I’m going to stay tuned to that blog.

That oblivion writing – where did you find it? I’d love to do something with it myself. My husband is a HUGE elder scrolls fan.

    Your stuff is too amazing . . . going in to squee overload . . . ^_^

      Thanks for your kind words!
I can’t quite remember if I used a Daedric font or if I just put it together using the images in the Appendices section at http://www.uesp.net. Either way, I did have to do a pattern for the letters because I couldn’t find one anywhere! I wish I could show you my upcoming Daedric alphabet sampler, it’s gonna be awesome! 😀
I’d love to see another Journey bookmark, let me know if you’d like a pattern – I can probably change up the symbols too if needed!

Wow you were a busy bee! My husband’s into the Elder Scrolls, but he plays Skyrim and I have been toying with the idea of making something Skyrim-related for him… I hope you feel better soon 🙂

Oh I love Skyrim! In fact, if it weren’t for this cold, I’d be playing some in between my stitchings! 😀
If you do make something Skyrim-related, I’d love to see it! 😀
