Sprite Stitch Mini Swap 2011 ~ Part One!

Part one because I’ve just sent my gifts out today, and also received some! (Part two will happen when my gifts arrive at their new home, of course.)
Isabelle, otherwise known as Craftymaster90, sent me two lovely stitchings as part of the mini craft swap.

First, this gorgeous version of the dragon symbol from The Elder Scrolls series.

She also sent me this lovely FFX Lulu, which she designed from scratch!

I can’t tell you how much I love these two pieces!
Isabelle is leaving it to me to frame / finish these however I wish, and I hope I’ll come up with something equally as wonderful as they are!

Please check out Isabelle’s other works on her deviantART – http://izzyxiii.deviantart.com/ .

Catching up (or trying to, at least)

I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of October already. Seems like only yesterday that I was working on the Diglett/Dugtrio thing… I guess time really doesn’t wait for anyone :)

Let me deal with all the stuff that’s been going on since my old PC sailed off to oblivion. Of course, there was the alphabet challenge. I didn’t win (didn’t really expect to though lol), but I shared second place with riotpatch – we both got 20% of the votes each – and first place went to Sprite Stitch member “supermarkio”, congrats! Check out the final entries here.

Next up is the September mini-swap. My secret partner was “ezsebeth” from Belgium, who likes Pokemon. So I made her a hussif (a sewing pouch with goodies in) with Dragonite on the front.

Pictures taken by ezsebeth.

I think it could have gone better, but my sewing machine decided if my PC wasn’t going to work then it was going on strike. So, I ended up stitching the lot by hand! I also included goodies, such as pins, needles, scissors and things like that (I got a small sewing kit from the local supermarket and raided it :D ). I hope ezsebeth likes it and can use it :)

My swap gift was from “stephaniem” – how she ever guessed what I hoped to get I’ll never know lol. She gave me this :

A Black Mage [heart] bookmark! I read a lot, but I didn’t have a bookmark, and never got around to making one for myself (I basically just tried to remember where I was up to in a book, with limited success). The visual representation of my user name is great and I love the colours. So, thankyou stephaniem!!

I think I’ll leave it there for today (don’t want to make this post too long and bloaty), but I will continue tomorrow with more of my recent works in progress and other news.

:D

Yay! Alphabet! (JUL/AUG Challenge)

It’s that time again…and I’m not talking about female cycles here. I mean the creativity fest that is a Sprite Stitch Challenge! This time, it’s all about the alphabet. I considered doing my username until I counted the letters in it…too many! So, I went for this instead:

B is for Black Mage :D

Been reading into various styles of stitching and needlework recently and was inspired by Assisi embroidery to make the wall hanging you see here. Assisi work involves stitching the background of a piece and leaving the main motif blank.

I decided to make it into a wall hanging instead of just framing it this time, mostly because I didn’t have a nice enough frame for it. So I made some twisted cord out of luxe wool and stitched it on :)

The current challenge ends on 31st August, and the entries I’ve seen so far are great. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing riotpatch‘s entry as she’s using sprites from the Card Gallery (which can be found at http://cardgallery.tales-tra.com/main.htm ).

Coming soon: September’s Mini Swap – Oblivion WIP – Techie stitching – and hopefully more :)

Final Fantasy XI Prime Elements (Stitch-a-long project finished!!)

So… it’s finally finished. Took a lot longer than I thought but I’ve had so many distractions lately lol. I finished the background and filled in the centre of the chart with white, I figured simple was the best way to go (also lots less work for me!). I also did a little 1 strand border around the letters in DMC jewel effects colours – it doesn’t show up well on the camera though :(

It’s now stapled to a board ready for framing, hopefully that will be sometime soon (along with the ever growing pile of stuff that needs framing!)

I’d like to take this chance to thank Sprite Stitch for having the stitch-a-long, and to congratulate everyone that is taking part!

On to the next project!!

Vivi papercraft

vivipaper

My first attempt at a difficult papercraft. It didn’t turn out quite right, but I’m happy with it anyway. I downloaded the model from Chamoo232′s Papercraft Archive, which has lots of nice models to try and some links to other papercraft sites :)

Black Mages…of course!

4blms

As you might have guessed, I love mages and especially black ones. These ones are the party from Final Fantasy 5 in their black mage forms :) I have also done a white version of this and hope to be sharing it on here soon!
